New Song, New Soul (Psalm 40)

From Praise From Zion · 2026 · 2:47·Track 2 of 10
Lyrics

I waited patient, waited long
Crying out with a broken song
He leaned on down, He heard my plea
Pulled me out from the pit, set me free

He put a new song deep in my soul
Praise to my God, making me whole
Many will see it, standing in awe
Trusting the Lord, obeying His call
Trusting the Lord, obeying His call

I was sinking in that miry clay
But He set my feet on the Rock today
Gave me ground that's firm and strong
Now my steps march steady, I can't go wrong

He put a new song deep in my soul
Praise to my God, making me whole
Many will see it, standing in awe
Trusting the Lord, obeying His call

From the shadows to the light
He turned my mourning into fight
Now I sing with freedom's fire
Lifting His name, higher and higher
Trusting the Lord, obeying His call

He put a new song deep in my soul
Praise to my God, making me whole
Many will see it, standing in awe
I'll trust in the Lord
I'll trust in the Lord

1For the leader. A psalm of David.

3He lifted me out of the miry pit, the slimy clay, and set my feet on a rock, steadied my legs.

4He put a new song into my mouth, a hymn to our God. May many see it and stand in awe, and trust in the LORD.

5Happy is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who turns not to the arrogant or to followers of falsehood.
