The Lord Will Fight Your Battles

From Shadowland: Songs from the Valley · 2025 · 4:28·Track 10 of 12
Lyrics

The Lord will fight your battles
You only need to be still
In quietness and rest is your strength
The truth will prevail

You want my heart
Just not my show
Working out your purposes
So that they overflow

Your spirit is my guide
The whisper of your voice
You light way through your word
Will I follow despite the noise

The Lord will fight your battles
You only need to be still
In quietness and rest is your strength
The truth will prevail

For your love is better than life
With joy my lips will praise your name
You're right hand sustains me
You won't put me to shame

The mouths of liars will be silenced
As you hide me in Your shadow
You're My fortress and my refuge
The only God I know

The Lord will fight your battles
You only need to be still
In quietness and rest is your strength
The truth will prevail

Whether in the struggle
On the mountain or valley low
Your Spirit in my heart
Makes my cup overflow

The Lord will fight your battles
You only need to be still
In quietness and rest is your strength
The truth will prevail

The LORD will battle for you; you hold your peace!”

Exodus 14:14 · NJPS
Read Exodus 14:10-14

10As Pharaoh drew near, the Israelites caught sight of the Egyptians advancing upon them. Greatly frightened, the Israelites cried out to the LORD.

11And they said to Moses, “Was it for want of graves in Egypt that you brought us to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us, taking us out of Egypt?

12Is this not the very thing we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us be, and we will serve the Egyptians, for it is better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness’?”

13But Moses said to the people, “Have no fear! Stand by, and witness the deliverance which the LORD will work for you today; for the Egyptians whom you see today you will never see again.

14The LORD will battle for you; you hold your peace!”
