My foot had almost slipped away
My heart was torn with envy's fire
The proud seemed strong, their paths were smooth
While I walked through flood and mire
But when I entered into Your light
I saw their end, I saw what's right
God, my strength and portion forever
Though my heart and flesh may fail
You are near, You leave me never
In the storm, Your love prevails
Whom have I in heaven but You, Lord
Earth has nothing I desire
God, my strength and portion forever
Set my soul on holy fire
They boast with words, they mock Your name
Their treasures shine like morning gold
But I was foolish, blind, and bruised
A beast before You, uncontrolled
Yet still You hold me by the hand
You lead me with a purpose planned
God, my strength and portion forever
Though the darkness hides the way
You will guide me with Your counsel
And receive me into day
Whom have I in heaven but You, Lord
Earth has nothing I desire

You alone are my desire
You are the rock on which I stand
My refuge in the shadowland
My heart may break, the night may fall
But You, O God, are over all
Forever faithful, ever true
There's no one else, just only You

21My mind was stripped of its reason, my feelings were numbed.
22I was a dolt, without knowledge; I was brutish toward You.
23Yet I was always with You, You held my right hand;
24You guided me by Your counsel and led me toward honor.
25Whom else have I in heaven? And having You, I want no one on earth.
26My body and mind fail; but God is the stay of my mind, my portion forever.
27Those who keep far from You perish; You annihilate all who are untrue to You.
28As for me, nearness to God is good; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may recount all Your works.
