My foot had almost slipped away
My heart was torn with envy's fire
The proud seemed strong, their paths were smooth
While I walked through flood and mire
But when I entered into Your light
I saw their end, I saw what's right

God, my strength and portion forever
Though my heart and flesh may fail
You are near, You leave me never
In the storm, Your love prevails
Whom have I in heaven but You, Lord
Earth has nothing I desire

Set my soul on holy fire

They boast with words, they mock Your name
Their treasures shine like morning gold
But I was foolish, blind, and bruised
A beast before You, uncontrolled
Yet still You hold me by the hand
You lead me with a purpose planned

You will guide me with Your counsel
And receive me into day
Whom have I in heaven but You, Lord
Earth has nothing I desire
