My inner light is fading
Shattered dreams and worn out prayers
I followed You into the darkness
Met the silence of my deepest fears

You led me to rock bottom
Deconstruction my only path
My beliefs a faint mirage
Under the weight of Your sovereign hand

I stared into the cloud of unknowing
Wild and waste in this wilderness
Dark night of the soul, Spirit is moving
Surrender control for Your heaviness

I walked into the cloud of unknowing
Left my doctrines at Your feet
Gave up my pride and certainty
For the One who was, who is, and will forever be

All my life I chased certainty,
Perfection in my veins
Crossing T's and dotting I's
My favorite masquerade (pain)

Thought knowing was the answer
But You stripped my soul to dust
White knuckles on all my plans
Only thing left was trust (peace)
